Students in the combined Bachelor’s–Master’s program may take the exam from the 2nd semester (after completing at least 15 credits).
Students in the combined Master’s–Doctoral program may take the doctoral exam starting in the 5th semester after entering the doctoral track.
Application Period: Every semester at the beginning of classes (March, September).
Subjects
Master’s Program: 3 subjects — Mathematical Statistics (required), Applied Statistics (required), and one additional subject chosen from completed coursework.
Doctoral Program: 4 subjects — Theory of Regression Analysis (required), Theory of Linear Model (required), and two additional subjects chosen from completed coursework.
Passing Standard: At least 80 out of 100 points in each subject.
Application Procedure: Apply via CAU Portal → Academic Information → Applications/Inquiry → Graduation → Application.
Foreign Language Examination

Eligibility: Available from the first semester.

Thesis
Master’s Program
Eligibility
Completion or expected completion of master’s coursework.
Passing of the thesis qualification exam.
Approval at the department’s public thesis presentation.
Evaluation
Timing: End of semester (June, December).
Committee: 3 members, including advisor.
Method: Written thesis and oral defense; pass requires ≥80/100 in both, with at least two-thirds committee approval.
Submission: Thesis proposal evaluation report submitted to the Graduate School Support Team.
Doctoral Program
Eligibility
Completion or expected completion of doctoral coursework.
Passing of the thesis qualification exam.
Passing of the preliminary thesis review, including:
At least one presentation at the Korean Statistical Society or a related academic conference.
At least two publications in journals indexed by the Korean Research Foundation (KCI) or higher; at least one must be as sole or first author.
Approval at the department’s public thesis presentation.
Proposal Review
Timing: Before the semester of final thesis review.
Committee: 4 members, including advisor.
Method: Review of research topic and methodology; requires ≥ two-thirds committee approval.
Final Thesis Review
Committee: 5 members, including advisor; at least 1 external examiner.
Process: At least 2 review sessions, with ≥7 days between them.
Method: Written thesis and oral defense; pass requires ≥80/100 in both, with at least two-thirds committee approval.
