Admissions
Master’s Program
Eligibility
  • Applicants holding (or expected to hold) a bachelor’s degree from an accredited domestic or international university, regardless of major, or those recognized by law as having equivalent or higher academic standing.
  • Prospective graduates must complete their degree requirements before enrollment.
  • Applicants to industry–academia cooperative programs must be recommended by the head of the partner institution.
  • Additional prerequisite courses may be required depending on background.
Prerequisite Courses
  • Prerequisite Requirements
    • Applicants with a non-statistics bachelor’s degree (including double majors) must complete 15 undergraduate credits designated by the department, or obtain substitution approval from the department chair and graduate dean.
    • Applicants with foreign degrees must complete 15 master’s-level prerequisite credits designated by the department, or obtain substitution approval.
  • Courses
    • Required: Mathematical Statistics (1), (2); Regression Analysis
    • Electives (choose 2): Experimental Design, Applied Probability, Time Series Analysis, Multivariate Statistical Analysis, Bayesian Statistics, Nonparametrics, Analysis of Categorical Data
Doctoral Program
Eligibility

    • Applicants with foreign degrees must complete 9 doctoral-level credits designated by the department, or obtain substitution approval.

    • Required: Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics
    • Electives (choose 1): Regression Analysis, Biostatistics, Time Series Analysis, Bayesian Analysis in Environmental Science
Combined Master’s–Doctoral Program
Overview
  • For bachelor’s degree holders (or prospective graduates) aiming for a doctoral degree.
  • Students bypass the master’s thesis and comprehensive exam (language and major).
  • Master’s thesis submission is waived.
  • After completing at least 4 semesters and 30 credits, students are recognized as doctoral candidates.
  • Early completion is possible (up to 1 year shorter) if degree requirements are fulfilled with a GPA of 4.0 or higher.

Integrated Bachelor’s–Master’s Program
Overview
  • Allows students to earn both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 5 years [7 undergraduate semesters + 3 graduate semesters].
  • Reduces total study period by 1 year (one semester each from bachelor’s and master’s programs).
Eligibility
  • Undergraduate students in their 7th semester at the time of application.
  • Must have completed at least 106 credits, with a GPA of 3.3 or higher in major courses (including core).
  • Must be recommended by department chair or advisor.
Scope of Application
Students may apply only to one graduate department related to their major, double major, interdisciplinary major, or convergence major. (Not applicable to cooperative programs between departments.)
Requirements
Students admitted must complete the 7th semester without a leave of absence, while registering for up to 6 graduate credits. These credits count toward both undergraduate and graduate degree requirements.
International Admissions
Eligibility
  • Applicants and both parents must hold foreign (non-Korean) citizenship.
  • Overseas Koreans and foreigners who completed the entire 16-year education (primary, secondary, and higher education) abroad.
  • Must meet language proficiency requirements set by the International Exchange Team (specified in recruitment guidelines).
Special Recommendation Track
Eligibility
  • Applicants holding (or expected to hold) a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited domestic or international university, regardless of major.
  • Must be recommended by a designated faculty member (Korean nationals only; foreign nationals not eligible).
  • Doctoral/combined program applicants must be full-time students.
  • For Master’s or Combined applicants: undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0/4.5 or 2.89/4.3.
  • For Doctoral applicants: master’s GPA of at least 3.8/4.5 or 3.64/4.3.
Admissions Process
General Admissions: Document screening, entrance exam (Mathematical Statistics), and interview.
Special Admissions: Document screening and interview.
